Repsol Honda RC213V

Hi Folks. It's almost Easter, so Happy Easter if that's your thing. I personally just like the chocolate.

This is the fairly recent 1/12 kit of the 2014 MotoGP championship winning bike, rode by Marc Marquez.
Marquez won the Moto 2 championship in 2012 and stepped up into the MotoGP class in 2013 aged just 20 years old. He won his debut championship and has went on to dominate the sport now taking 5 championship wins. The young Spaniard seems to be pioneering a rather unique riding style which is the key to his success. Basically he slides the front wheel of the bike into the corner going really fast, travels round the corner horizontally on his elbow breaking all laws of conventional physics, then goes really fast out of the corner and wins all the races...

The bike is a 1000cc liquid cooled 4-stroke V4 prototype. The estimated performance figures claim the engine generates 256 bhp giving the bike a top speed of 225 mph.

The kit itself is a joy to build, as are all of these modern Tamya kits. If you are an automotive fan then they provide an amazing insight into the technology and the engineering behind the fairings of these million pound machines.
The painting and decals aren't an easy process but you get paint masks supplied with the kit for ease. I used an aftermarket carbon fibre decal kit from Studio 27 for effect, but apart from that it is built out of the box. For the painting, I decanted a couple of Tamiya rattle cans and coloured it in TS-36 fluorescent red and TS-96 fluorescent orange as called for in the destruction's.

Any questions feel free to ask.
And as always, thanks very much for looking!
Cheers.
