Supermarine Attacker FB.2 (1/144 Miniwing + Shelf Oddity)

April 2, 2019 · in Aviation · · 7 · 2.2K

Tail wheeled operational jet fighter? Exactly how many other were there?

Long development period (initial specs issued in 1944) leveraged by short career in Royal Navy (1950-1954 in frontline service, taken out in 1957), equally short in Pakistan Air Force who flew 36 aircraft between 1953 and 1956. Suffered many problems, not the least of them resulting from its tail-wheel configuration.

The model is Miniwing main parts, enhanced with Master gun barrels and brass bits (prototype kit).

  1. Nicely done, sir...don't see many of these - in ANY scale. 🙁

  2. Lovely looking model. Great idea to put the Lego figure next to it so we can see how small it is. Very well done.

  3. Great job on something so small .I've built the 1/48 Trumpeter FAA version. The first prototype Me 262 had a tail wheel configuration and they worked out early on that it wasn't right so why did it take Supermarine so long to catch up ?

  4. A lot of thumbs up from my side: because of that scale, that very good finish and especially because of that rare topic!

  5. Unusual subject Leszek, nicely done.

  6. Dropped flaps and stabilizers - in 1/144 - wow, nicely done! A good looking representation of a rarely modeled subject.
