1/48 Hasegawa RAAF P-40 E

May 28, 2019 · in Aviation · · 14 · 2.4K

This plane was flown by five victory ace P Off Stuart Munro early 1942 from Port Moresby. At this time No. 75 Squadron was the only Allied fighter squadron standing between the Japanese and Australia. Many pilots of 75 Squadron entered service in North Africa and the Arabic expression "schufti" meant to have a close look. The kit was enhanced by an Ultracast seat and / Aires resin plus photoetched parts for additional cockpit details.

  2. Excellent, Dale! Really well done !

  3. This one caught my eye right away ! Beautiful work Dale. You raised the bar a few notches with this one. And that’s something that I didn’t think could be done... especially when you look at the rest of your builds. They’re all excellent, but this one is my favorite.

    Well done my friend.

  4. Sweet. One can never build too many P-40's. Looks great Dale

  5. A great-looking 'hawk! Love the weathering. Well done.

  6. Nice work on the model. Beautiful paint work.

A slight modification on the history: the first P-40s at Darwin were from the 49th Fighter Group. They were relieved in August by the RAAF. 75 Squadron operated at Darwin the fall of 1942. (I've just been researching this for a book)

  7. Thanks Tom. The information I had on this is from the old "RAAF Camouflage and Markings" book.
