Airfix 1/24 Hawker Typhoon IB “Car Door”

May 6, 2019 · in Aviation · · 14 · 7.1K

Hello all. This is my second article. This time I would like to show off the completed project. This is "Tiffi" in large scale . The model worth recommending. Over 500 parts, beautifully mapped surface of the hull and wings. A very detailed Napier Saber engine made of more than 70 parts. I worked on it for 100 hours, but it was worth it. The effect is very good for me. This particular machine served in the 174th RAF Squadron in June 1944. It was one of the last "Car Door" Typhoon to use at this time. The squadron supported London in Normandy, then fought in Northern France, the Netherlands and Germany. I painted it with AK-Interactive paints and "dirty" with Tamiya's weathering. I hope you like it. I invite you to comment.

  1. The level of detail one can incorporate into an aircraft of this scale is amazing...as you've shown here in this outstanding example. The "labor of love" really shines through in this build. Stellar workmanship, sir.

  2. Stunning build! I did the bubble top version of this kit a few years back and this has reminded me quite how incredible the detail potential is. Amazing work!

  11. first class all around

  12. Amazing build. I want to tackle this but don't want to do the "car door" version. I'm confused as to whether there is a bubble canopy option as some reviews show it.
