F-105D Marineflieger, 1/72 Hasegawa

May 15, 2019 · in Aviation · · 6 · 2.8K

What if the West Germans back in the day replaced their F-84's with the Thud instead of the F-104? Less fatalities, maybe, I don't know. I got this off the net, there was supposed to be a 'B'[ shorter nose] in the box but it turned out to be a 'D'. Not having any suitable USAF decals I decided to do a whatifer. had hoped to market the 105 internationally but it wasn't to be. The kit is ancient as are the decals I used. Included is a history of the kit in instructions.

  1. looks fantastic in that scheme...great what if

  2. Great idea again, Robert! I think the German 104 losses seriously dropped off after they moved the training to New Mexico. Inexperienced pilots, hot plane, and German weather didn’t mix well.

Nice WHAT IF project, again , good use of the imagination.

  4. One of the first kits I can remember buying/building...what memories.

  5. A fun project nicely executed!

  6. Your Thud looks great in that colour scheme Robert. Well done.
