Tamiya F4U-1 Corsair in 1/48.
Just completed for our IPMS group build display in July. The Corsair has to be a Tamiya kit, built out of the box (seat belts & pilot are permitted) I was surprised to find that this is my fifth build of this kit, with my enthusiasm undiminished. Not problems, no putty & no hassles. The model depicts the aircraft flown by 1st Lt. W.J.Thomas, Guadalcanal in July 1943.
Paint; Model Master, Decals; Kit & Sky Models. A most satisfying build all round.
I like your Corsair a lot Tony. The build looks solid and the paint work flawless. The weathering is just right, a bit different from most F4U posted here lately that have a more intense & dramatic wear and tear. Congrats!

I sure hope Jim Sullivan (Mr. Corsair) sees this beauty! I like the early paint schemes MUCH better than Dark Sea Blue all over. (See F4Us, F6Fs, F7Fs, F8Fs ... you get my point! LoL!)

Thanks Jeff. I tend to agree with you; DSB can be boring. As an alternative, have a look at some of the Fleet Air Arm Corsairs in dark sea grey & slate camouflage which served in the Indian Ocean or the British Pacific Fleet.They fade very nicely!
My next will probably be a -1A in the tri-color scheme. I've seen some pictures of them not merely faded, but bleached!

Thank you Shun; I tried using a black primer & it seems to have helped with the weathering effects & the gradual build up of thin coats.
Very nice. As you said, gotta love the Tamiya Corsairs. I've built 1½ of them. The ½ is a conversion to a British one, stalled out on the small fuselage vents
