1/48 F2H-2 Banshee
It must be Banshee Friday! Hot on the heels of Michael's, here's mine. I just finished it about an hour ago.
This is the disappointing Kittyhawk kit saved by the Rieth Banshee resin correction set. I ran a build log in the aircraft work in progress section if you'd like to see the blow by blow. I finished it with Modelmaster and Humbrol enamels. The decals are from Furball's Banshee collection representing an F2H-2 from VF-62 aboard USS Lake Champlain at the end of the Korean War. This was really a special project that was enjoyable and educational. If you want a decent Banshee, you really need the Rieth set. I know I'll be building a -2P using it in the not too distant future.
John, that Banshee really came out looking great. What did you use for the white canopy framing? The Furball canopy decals? Something you made? I see silver rivets.
I like the sheen of your GSB. I used Vallejo Satin, which was too flat. I over-sprayed with Testors Semi-Gloss Acrylic, which again wasn't shiny enough. I should have gone half Semi-Gloss and Gloss.
Thanks, Michael. I used the Furball canopy seals. The clearcoat was Testors gloss and dull cote mixed 2:1 and then thinned 1:1 with lacquer thinner.
