  1. What's really amazing is that production of the Hellcat at Grumman didn't begin until September 1942, and by the end of 1942 they had delivered less than 100. Unlike every other US fighter, the Hellcat was only built at the Grumman Bethpage factory, and by Mary 1945, only two and a half years after production began, they delivered this, the 10,000th Hellcat. That, folks, is why the Allies won World War II - the "Arsenal of Democracy" couldn't be reached by the enemy.
