Dragon 1/48 Ju-88G-6 Oblt. Walter Briegleb in Operation Gisela

June 16, 2019 · in Aviation · · 12 · 2.6K

Good old ... first A/C model I ever had to use 60 grit sandpaper on! Some of it did go together without too much fuss, but I did a good bit of filling and re-scribing to enhance and add details. P-E in the 'pit of course and True Details wheels. What a PAINt job- First a coat of 75, then create a reverse-mottle with 76, mask (roughly) where some of the decals would be placed, and finally mess the whole thing up with squiggles, spots & blobs of 82 & 83. "I got blisters on my (index) fingers!" After that I elected not to drive myself nuts with hypo tubing, stretched Q-tips, and .008 wire, but used the rather heavy but not badly molded kit antennae. Thanks for looking!

  1. Stan, those sore fingers were worth it, because the camouflage is a beauty, one like I don’t recall seeing in any model until yours. And the good ol Dragon is still a very decent kit despite its minor flaws. One I can recommend to get are the quickboost spinners that are drop fit replacements and far better shaped than those in the box. Thanks for sharing, like a lot!

  2. Stan, your efforts were well worth it. Very nice.
    Love the Ringo/Beatles reference.

  3. “What a PAINt job”...brilliant, Stan!

  6. That turned out great. Nice paintwork.

  7. Very crisp building, as well as nice and flawless painting. I'm very interested in the interpretation of the Nachtjager camo. Thank you for sharing.

  8. Great work on the paint scheme! This mottling is indeed very intriguing, never tried myself out of sheer fear of messing up, let alone the pain(t)ful fingers.

  9. Really like the camo job on this - very nice! And convincing job on it. Great finished model.

  10. Camo gorgeous, and that canopy is one of the best I've ever see, anywhere. Flawless. Wow.

  11. love that paintwork - reminds me of some of the late-war color photos I have seen of Luftwaffe a/c. beautiful work all around!

  12. Fantastic finish on the old Dragon Ju88. Really like that.

Have built 2 of these already and really enjoyed the sturdiness and ease of construction.
    thanks
