HK Lancaster at Salisbury Model show

I attended the Salisbury Model Show yesterday. On the Salisbury Club Stand was the 1/32nd scale HK Lancaster. This impressive model was built by Tony Horton, and is in the markings of PA 474 from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
Unfortunately, I Could only take a few photos on my phone, so the photos are a bit limited.
Tony was not about, so couldn’t ask him anything about the model. On the port side of the Lancaster is the 1/24th scale Airfix Typhoon to give you some idea of the size.

Below is a link to IPMS Salisbury should you wish to learn more about the club.

  1. Spectacular build…it certainly dwarfs everything else on the table. Thanks for the “tour”.

  2. A 1/32 Lanc.

In all honesty, I’m still shaking my head. I thought Airfix jumped the shark at a 1/24 Mosquito…

That said, hope you enjoyed the show, Julian.

  3. Just wait ’till the Smogrepair 1/24th Lanc comes out!
Oh. There IS no Smogrepair model company?! Never mind.

Seriously, that is one fine looking Lancaster. Thanks for sharing the photos, Julian!

Recently, Louis G. got the big 1/48th (?) B-36 and I’m anxiously awaiting his build. I’m SURE (having seen L’s other work) it will be an awesome build.

  4. Definitely the eight hundred pound gorilla of the table or any normal room. I’ve have seen the Mynarski Memorial Lancaster fly and it reminded me of a swan …which is graceful in the air and some what odd on the land or on the water. This is a kit that is for a the real “Fan Boy” or some who has a personal interest…perhaps a relative who flew in the type. Impressive to say the least.
