Trumpeter Mig 3 1/48 wood and metal

June 30, 2019 · in Aviation · · 10 · 3.5K

The Soviet aircraft of World War II were often designed with a plywood part. For example the mig 3 and the Yaks 3. This is a mig 3 with highlighted parts in wood and metal. wood is obtained with decals.
Really unpleasant that, in the box, there were not two parts of the canopy.

  1. Well done, sir...very unique build.

  2. Bummer about the canopy parts. Build looks great.

  3. Carlo, you made the best of a bad situation. The build looks like a in factory plane, almost but not quite yet ready to be painted and delivered to the front. It’s a stunning build from every standpoint. Seems those Uschi decals are a must these days. Splendid job my friend

  4. Excellent result, the wood work is superb.

One minor niggle: the control surfaces are fabric-covered, and at this stage of construction would likely be some interesting color or other. Don't know what, but both RAF and Luftwaffe used red dope on their fabric surfaces. Sort of a "Tamiya Hull Red" shade of red.

  5. Amazing contrast between the metal and the ply wood. Well done.

  6. Most excellent, Carlo!

  7. A great-looking project - as Haslam mentioned, the contrast between the two is really cool!

  8. Looks brilliant Carlo. Your weathering is masterful.
