Yakovlev Yak-28-64, Anigrand 1/144

July 20, 2019 · in Aviation · · 5 · 3.6K

The Yak-28-64 is a truely exotic airplane. Designed in competition with the Sukhoi Su-15 Flagon, the protoype was difficult to fly and the project soon ended with only one plane ever flown. Few pictures can be found in the internet, for example here: http://m.ruslet.webnode.cz/technika/ruska-technika/letecka-technika/a-s-jakovlev/jak-28-64/

has designed a short-run resin kit of the Yak-28-64 in as a bonus item in their offering of the Myasishchev Bison. The main gears required heavy rework i.e. repositioning and shortening to make the plane look like the pictures. The number code is red in the kit but should be yellow, I found a replacement in Anigrands Ecranoplan Lun box. The dummy missiles required rework but still cannot hide that they are made from resin. Casting quality is without bubbles or casting defects, fit is good as well. However, the engine intakes required lot of sanding to make them right.

  1. Good-lookin' little (?) build - I like the pics, too.

  2. Nice work on the metal finish, especially over a resin model!

  3. beautiful...love the Flagon too
