FW 190 A8 Walkaround

September 9, 2019 · in Photo Collections · · 6 · 14.4K

Four years ago, I wrote an article about how a A8 was being restored at the Luftwaffenmuseum in Gatow outside Berlin, Germany

A year ago the restoration was finished and the aircraft is now exhibited in the rebuilt exhibition.
The aircraft can be called a "Frankenstein Aircraft", that is, has been restored using parts from many different aircraft. Great efforts were however made, to make it as authentic as possible.
I hope you'll find these pictures interesting and useful.

  3. Beautiful shots, thanks.

Surprised it has the swastika on it - was told it was illegal there even in museums.

    • The swastika is not illegal in Germany if it's on a historical object in a museum.
If I exhibit a model with a swastika publicly though, I might get into trouble.

      • That's interesting. I worry i might also get into trouble ordering swastikas for kits that dont have them! I also understand exactly why it is a sensitive issue, lest we forget.

  4. Excellent photos Ulf, Thanks for posting!
Great photos of the landing gear.
