Polikarpov I-16

September 1, 2019 · in Aviation · 6 · 1.7K

Hi, here is my 1/48 scale I-16 from Eduard. The kit was well made with minor fit issues on the wing roots and slightly confusing instructions. overall it was a nice kit with photo-etched seat belts and other cockpit instruments. The Profi-Pack comes with markings for four different aircraft, only two were used in combat. The other two were a VIP bird and a Soviet acrobatic bird. The model as painted with Akan colors with Model Masters chipping and other metallic components.

  1. Well done Oliver - lovely job! Great little bird! When I see these I always find it difficult to think they went up against BF109Es - some very brave pilots!

  2. Good work, Oliver...I like it.

  3. This is a mean looking I-16! The freehand camouflage is very good, I don’t think I would do such a good job in it. The only thing I feel is below the overall quality are the wheels. Keep them coming Oliver, the VVS planes are clearly the underdog of the model family so it’s always nice to see more like this gem

  4. Good work on this!

  5. Nicely done. I'm glad you included the landing gear retraction cables...they add a very nice touch.
