Voodoo CF-101F “Hawk One Canada”
At the beginning of the 1970s, the aging CAF Voodoo fleet was exchanged for sixty six lower timed USAF Voodoos. These replacement aircraft were equipped with a superior missile control system. Even with the Voodoo fleet restored to its original size, serviceability began to be a problem. In 1977, the CAF launched a program to find a new fighter to replace the Voodoo and by April 1980, the search had narrowed down to the CF-18 Hornet. Most of the fleet was phased out by the end of 1984 and the last Voodoo flight anywhere was made in April 1987.
McDonnell Aircraft manufactured 479 F-101B Voodoos, between 1957 and 1961 and they served with both the United States and Canadian Armed Forces.

CF-101F Hawk One Canada was operated by 409 Squadron (Nighthawks), based at Comox British Columbia.
Great job, Dirk! I’ve always loved that kit. I’ve built Texas and Maine ANG examples over the years. It’s nice to see one in Canadian special colors. Great choice.

Very tidy Voodoo.Dont think I have seen one in that colour scheme before. Just goes to show how good Monogram kits were/are.
That Monogram kit was my 2nd or 3rd after getting back into modeling - brings back memories! Those Canadian decals are stunning. Nicely done!

I saw "Hawk One" fly at the Abbotsford Show in 1977 (it was very impressive, a four-ship aerobatic team she led). You've definitely gotten her just right.
Looks great Dirk. I always liked the CF 101s. I saw them fly several times in shows at 14 Wing. I have the same kit and decals but since I've had to stop building it will probably change hands soon.

Always loved MONOGRAM models, when purchased, I could not wait to get home and unwrap the box. I consider the VOODOO to be one of their best, and this one is surely no exception Dirk.
Beautiful paint work that catches the eye and good choice of markings.

Like most of us do. Purchase and as soon as we are home, opening the box (ripping the plastic cover), checking it all out. Close it and away she go's, in to the stash.

Thanks for the positive response to this old bird. Administration records: It was purchased on the Island of Curacao in 1986 in a supermarket. I had to pay 12 USD. for it. The tag is still inside the box.
No problems constructing it. The decals from Monogram were to stiff to be used, so at a later date I purchased the Micro Scale decals. Also in the stash. It all came out after 2004 and was placed in a Birdseye view. Another project finished. Regards, Dirk

Great job Dirk. I lived across the strait from CFB Comox and all sorts of military aircraft from there would fly over head. Occasionally the sound barrier would be broken

Thanks again for the positive reactions on this old bird. Plus Models has brought out some ladders for the Voodoo and from CMK I acquired some helmets + oxygen hoses. When these items will arrive, there will be again some room for improvement.

Thanks for your positive response. I did see this aircraft many years ago in a CAF magazine.
I took the picture out and kept it separate. In the meantime I picked up the decals and finally it was time for construction.
