Finemolds 1/48 Mitsubishi A5M2b Claude

October 7, 2019 · in Aviation · 12 · 2.2K

Hi ya'll..lol.
My completed Claude. A fun build though the engine was a bit challenging to fit. In the markings of Hokoku no.132nd, Lait Go, No. 12th naval air corps, China. Love the striking red/bare metal finish. #finemolds

  1. Totally a nice build of a seldom seen early Japanese fighter. Most of these operated out of SE Asia, and in India, tangled with the Flying Tigers, the Chinese and the RAAF before the Zero was more available in numbers. Fine Molds are as the name implies, good kits, with some different not as common Japanese aircraft, like the Claude and Judy. That red does make it pop. Thanks Paul for sharing a rare bird.

  2. Yep - I always liked the red/NFM/white finish on a lot of the Claudes. Yours looks great! I need to do one of these...

  3. Good work, Paul - I like it. 🙂

  4. Nice work. I like Claudes.

  5. Really nice work on this one, Paul.

Actually, the A5M only saw combat in the Pacific War during the Kwajalein strikes by Enterprise in February 1942, and with the two A5ms aboard Shoho at Coral Sea. The similar (low wing/fixed gear) JAAF Ki.27 did see considerable service in Malaya, the Philippines, the Dutch East Indies and Burma over the first six months of the war, as well as in China.

    • Thank you. I heard there were 4 Claudes involved but could easily be wrong. Have a Ki27 also. I do love my Japanese subjects in 1/48. My AZ Lily is probably my favourite out of the limited runs.

  6. 🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :

Thank you for sharing these images.

  7. Good looking Claude, Paul very sharp and clean build.

  8. Great looking Claude! Have one in the new "stash" I'm building and after seeing reviews like this really looking forward to building it.
