Tamiya 1/48 MiG-15bis North Korean People´s Airforce

October 16, 2019 · in Aviation · · 8 · 1.5K

And here´s and old school jet my dad finished before the Su-27.

He used the still nice kit together with decals from H-Models. Camo done with AK Real Color Russian AMT-7 Blue, Russian AMT-4 Green, Tamiya XF-10 Brown and a selfmixed tan, EZ Line was used for the antenna wire.

As you may know, many Soviet pilots flew North Korean MiGs . They only were allowed to operate over North Korean territory so they wouldn´t be captured by US/UN troops in case of being shot down.

The model shows the aircraft of Major S.A.Fedorets, 913th IAP in April 1953. he was credited with 7 Sabre kills in total.

  4. Beautiful finish!

  5. Very well done. Nice a clean, and in-flight!

  6. Very nicely done. The “true” story of the Russian MiG pilot’s involvement is just now really coming out. A lot of what we, here in the US thought was fact, was not in a lot of cases, just propaganda meant for the home front. The book, “MiG Alley” by Tom Cleaver (yup, the very same guy who posts great models here on iModeler) does a very good job investigating the facts of that campaign. He compares and contrasts USAF and recently released Russian combat reports.
