Tamiya 1/48 Republic P-47D Thunderbolt, Mexican Airforce

October 23, 2019 · in Aviation · · 11 · 2.8K

My father did also some Latin American stuff this year, like this T-Bolt.
M kit, Aztec decals, Eduard seatbelts, EZ Line for the antenna wire, MRP White Aluminium for the NMF.
All nose trim, wing and fuselage stripes are painted. Although Aztec provides decals for all the outlines, my dad decided to paint them too.

The model shows an aircraft of the 201st Fighter Squadron of the Airforce shortly after WW2. The unit was established during the war and fought alongside the USAAF in the Pacific.
The 201st is still an active duty unit, using Pilatus PC-7.

  1. I like to see famous birds under rare colors, especially with such a level. Bravo !

  2. Very exotic, some Central and South American AFs had/have very colourful schemes. This one fits that category nicely

  3. Very attractive color scheme and superb build!

  4. Fantastic. I actually played with doing a T-bolt with the Mexican insignias. Very nice to see it done.

  5. Great finish. Really like this colour scheme.

  6. Really nice! Awesome natural metal finish, and the painted stripes look great.

  7. That's a beauty! Love the Mexican AF markings - I've got a set to make a Mexican SBD, but I may have to pick up a set for a T-bolt also!

  8. Thanks for your comments, appreciated!
