8./JG 27 Black 8

Hi folks,

Been on travel since my last post, so no new modeling. To warm up to one of my many started but unfinished kits, I thought I’d post a few builds from the last two years. This is Tamiya’s BF 109 E4/7 kit, decorated as Black 8 of 8./JG 27, as flown by Werner Schroer in Libya in 1941.

The mottling is insufficiently dense, which I put down to too great a fear free-hand airbrushing it in my first attempt. Given the flaws with the mottling, I decided to leave it unweathered and move on to the next subject without delay…a Honda F1 car by Tamiya…

Thanks and kind regards,

Jim

  1. According to photos of this plane, you have the mottling about exactly right. I attach photos of my version of another airplane from this unit to demonstrate that.
