This plane looks like the Russians copied the F-14 Tomcat.
Who copied who?
Actually the first Tomcat flew in 1970 whereas the first Mig-23 was in the air already in 1967...
The "copyright" of variable geometry wings belongs in fact to Germans, albeit their project didn't reach the prototype stage. If we omit the purely experimental Bell X-5 (developed from German plans) of the fifties, the first operational jet using this solution may be considered the F-111, which first flew in 1964. (Both F-14 and the MIG-23 are therefore "inspired" to the F-111).
I consider the MIG-23 a difficult airplane to model, because of its particular shape and I really have to praise Leoš for his succesful build!

Fantastic build of this cold war warrior! Great work on the ejection seat. They did take the idea of the variable intake ramps from the F-4.
It's nice to see a Flogger model as well built as this one.
I had so many problems with mine that it is sitting in a box with mangled landing gear (waiting for a solution or hammer which ever comes first) and I thought Mirage landing gear was complex and fiddly...
Lovely build, and a really nice finish on it.
Nice one Leos! The subtle weathering is very nice! You should totally submit this to the MiG group build! The Flogger has one of the most interesting landing gear around and the green you find in the tailpipe of certain Russian engines keeps the back end from being boring! I'll have to add this to the wish list! (I hope the have a two seat version as well like with their MiG-21!)
