End of the decade, add our favorite builds..

December 31, 2019 · in Uncategorized · · 12 · 1.4K

I have seen a few "All Decade" sports lists the past few days, so I thought maybe it would be fun to post pictures of our favorite builds of the past 10 years. Sadly some of mine died a grisly death at the hands of movers when I retired from the USN, but here are some of my favorites from the last 10 years. Many are from the last 7 since that is when I started posting here! So in order shown, not by year I didn't even try and figure all that out!

Monogram 1/25 Lil Coffin, Trumpeter 1/48 Albatross, Monogram 1/48 B-17, Tamiya 1/32 F4U-1A, Kinetic 1/48 C-2A, Monogram 1/48 Devastator, Eduard 1/48 FW-190D-9, Tamiya 1/12 McClaren, Dragon 1/35 Panther G Late, Monogram 1/25 Snake, AFV 1/35 Tiger I.

Happy New Years everyone!

  1. Great to see “Lil’ Coffin” kicking off your portfolio. That model brings back fond teenage memories building car models accompanied by my trusty battery powered transistor radio. Love the paint job. Nice array of builds.

  2. They all are great, nice Lil Coffin, I love the "Pregnant Hummer".

    • LOL that one has a special place in my heart. That was the bird I flew on when I was LCPO of Det 3 in VRC-30. It had my name painted above one of the rear windows. We got in a bit of trouble for the red and black tail, since the squadron colors were blue and gold! Later we painted "Queen Anne's Revenge" above the main entrance hatch, and Black Beard's Flag just aft of that. This was after we were called "A bunch of Pirates" on an Air Force Base once!

  3. Love the McLaren Rob , but my favourite has to be Lil Coffin !
Best wishes to you and yours for 2020!

  4. Very nice eclectic group of builds!

  5. These are all very nice and I understand why you picked these out as your favorites. It would be hard for me to pick just one as my favorite in this bunch you just posted...

I'll bet you were livid with the movers when they destroyed some of your work. Some people just don't care and only work because it's a paycheck. We had a similar experience with a roofing company earlier this year. Talk about a bunch of lowlife losers !

Like you I also have a soft spot in my heart for the old Monogram kits. These are what we cut our modelling teeth on. I'm surprised you didn't include the Orange Crate bicycle in this group... That was another cool one you made just recently.

Happy New Year my friend. The best to you and your family in 2020.

  6. Always a sailor Rob, thinking out of the box with all of our favorite Monogram kits, including as many stated Lil Coffin, great youthful memories of our day. The 10 year angle great idea. Well done, and Fly Navy. Happy New Year to you and your family.

  7. They're all great looking builds. I like the Lil Coffin, but my favorite is the HU-16. Well done, and many more in the 20's!

  8. Thanks for the kind words everyone!

  9. Great collection for the year - and yours is definitely one of the more eclectic!
