Revell 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf110G-4/R3/R8/B2 Royal Hungarian Airforce
Another contribution by my dad in 2015 to our Airwar over Austria theme.
The book "Hungarian Fighter Colours 1930-1945 Vol.2" by Denes Bernard and György Punka was used as reference.
Revell Germany kit, Cutting Edge decals, Gunze RLM paints, aerials done with EZ-Line, muzzle dampers are parts from the spares box, upper wing markings are masked and painted.
In December 1944 the Hungarians received about a dozen Bf110G-4 Nightfighters that served with the 101st Nightfighter Squadron. It was planned to establish a second squadron , pilots were trained but never equipped with aircraft. The 101 was first stationed in western Hungary but due to the advance of the Red Army the unit was soon transferred to Austria where the a/c were stationed in Wiener Neustadt and Parndorf. From January to March 1945 they made only a few interception missions without any success. Around early April 1945 the a/c were destroyed because of lack of fuel. Afterwards the crews fled from Austria to Germany in order to became US POWs and not Russian ones.

Menacing looking bird of prey, looks terrific. Solid build overall. Revell/Monogram, despite having too shallow engine nacelles, is a sound kit to build the late version of the 110. I still have 1 in the stash with a Cutting Edge correction resin set. Thanks for posting!
What a marvelous build... Everything about it is perfect. This is an absolute gem. I wish it were mine... it's that good ! Your dad is a craftsman...and the markings are typically one you don't see.
I also have this kit in the stash, and was wondering if your dad ran into any problems during construction ? From what I have read, the canopy assembly can be a little bit frustrating. What are your honest thoughts about this ?

I wish I could give you a better answer but my father has built too many models since then and can´t really remember. Back then I didn´t yet post WIP on Britmodeller like I do nowaydays. As far as I remember there weren´t any real problems.
I'll go see what's happening over there at Britmodeller... I have been tempted to see what it's like over there. Thanks for the heads up.
