1/48 Fine Molds Mitsubishi Ki-15

January 10, 2020 · in Aviation · · 18 · 2.6K

Model was done OOB with the addition of seat belts. This kit is very well done but it is a shame that the excellent interior details supplied with the kit can not be seen because there is no open cockpit option. This model represents a plane from the 18th Independent Company, Hankow Airfield, China, Spring, 1939.

  1. I could tell right away who built this model without even looking at the author. Another fabulous build here Dale... @dtravis

Too bad the canopy doesn't have an open section.

    "liked"

  2. Definitely "liked," and like the other comment, it's easy to spot your work from its excellence.

I've been thinking about this one, there's a kit sitting on the shelf at the other LHS here. What you've done here is a pretty good argument in favor of no longer resisting temptation.

    Great work (as usual)!

  3. Love that colour scheme and I agree about the 1 piece canopy but on the right angle that canopy just sets off the airframes lines so well.

  4. Dale you have truly mastered the art of painting unusual paint schemes on unusual looking planes. I really like this one.

  5. Fantastic colour scheme! Nice job.

  6. Looks great - love the scheme you selected for this - unusual for Japanese subjects. I have a 1/72 of the Ki-15, and made a note to use yours as a reference for paint scheme!

  7. Trying not to echo above comments is hard, so let me add the fact that it’s the first FM Babs I remember seeing built, though reading reviews I do recall the all closed canopy as one of the few perks. Perhaps Falcon will take that opportunity sooner or later. It really looks a very nice kit and you got the best of it for sure

  8. Fine Molds kits are really under represented and are the sleeper kits of the modeling world. They do makes some excellent kits and they do seem to have an appeal to the Japanese market with the subject matter.

My LHS has a few kits on the shelves but, the asking price is very steep and makes it hard to rationalize.

Two thumbs up Dale on posting a great kit.

  9. Lovely job Dale. It came out great.
I kind of like the canopy closed still. Flows. Nice to see another one built, I think we picked the best colour scheme. ?
