1/48 Scale Testor’s “Gates Learjet”

January 12, 2020 · in Aviation · · 1 · 3.5K

There are other LearJets here on "iModeler" so I'll enclose mine and show a couple of new things that I tried out.

First off I painted the inside of the windows with some medium blue colored Tamiya gloss paint then looked at it from the outside of the model. It looked ok, but not like the real airplane.

The reason behind this idea was: The cockpit windows are big and you could see most everything in the cockpit. However "Testor's" did not supply any cockpit part's, so when you look inside, there is nothing to see. With a good background of "scratch-building" experience I could have built in a nice cockpit, but choose not to!

I have shown how I re-scribe panel lines, but here are some more of it, and then I show again the "alignment" procedure which is part of the "Basics" in model building.

The painting came by using my Tamiya paints in my old-but good Badger-200 airbrush. I don't pay much attention on the air pressure as the needle jumps a little bit in its' case, so I just guess at setting it around 15-20 p.s.i.

I cut around each number and letter, including the centers of "A/0 & number 9." The decals went on the model just fine.
That's it. Enjoy...RJW!

  1. Great paint and modelling. Not a fan of the blue windows, though.
