BMW Isetta 250, 1:16, Revell of Germany #07030

January 12, 2020 · in Automotive · · 7 · 2.2K

Here is my build of the Isetta 250. The kit is a 2016 new release from Revell of Germany. I completed this build in 2017 and am just getting around to posting.

At scale it is different from the majority of 1/24 and 1/25 scale auto kits.

For those unfamiliar with this vehicle; this is one of the cars that got Europe driving after WW2. Designed by Iso of Italy, different versions were built in Germany, England, France, Brazil, and Argentina.
BMW however was the largest manufacturer. The 250 was the original. It was powered by a 250cc air cooled single cylinder engine lifted from their motorcycle. Later they sold 300cc and 600cc versions.

I first encountered an Isetta at age 8 (around 1959). One of my neighbors had one and I thought it was the coolest thing. I was always bugging him to take me for rides.

  1. Very nice! That interior looks carpeted and the luggage looks like leather.

  2. What a beauty! Everything looks perfect.

  3. That is indeed a beautiful model.

  4. The cars on these scales are a joy allow incredible details and look great

  5. You've made a great job with this kit, we must be about the same age, as I remember these cars in the UK, along with the Heinkel and Messersmidt versions. In the UK, if you had a motorcycle licence you could drive these cars on a motorcycle licence because they had no reverse gear... those were the days.

  6. That is something different, and really well done. I remember these in the UK during the 60s too, we called them bubble cars.
