My First "SnJ" Spray Metal Aluminum Painted Model
I "think" this was the first model that I painted with the new "SnJ" paint back in 1987/1988.
I took it to the local IPMS/USA-San Jose, California's monthly club meeting and told everyone how I painted it and used the SnJ polishing powder to rub out the paint and make it shine in some areas.
I painted what they called the "aft after-burner" section of the model with some of my different colors of paint.
The kit decals went on the SnJ paint ok and I don't recall if I added some Future on the model before I applied the decals, nor after they were on the model. I can't remember back to 1988.
Everyone liked the SnJ and most everyone said that they are going to buy some of it.
Another modeler said that I should write a story and send it to "FSM"
( FineScaleModeler) magazine which I did. Little did I know that they would publish my story, let alone put a photo of it on the cover of their magazine.
I got some nice letter's in the mail 'cause this was long before the "Internet" was invented.
After 32 years of setting in my dust-proof lighted show case, it still look's like these photos. It has been in a plastic dust proof case since I moved from Colorado to California.
Really a beautiful Hun. I've always loved that jet. The metal finish is beautiful. Here is a link to my F-100D build here on iModeler. I used Vallejo Metallics on it. They are water based acrylics and very easy to use. This was my first attempt at a NMF.
