Supermarine Walrus Mk.II Airfix 1/72

January 2, 2020 · in Aviation · · 20 · 3.5K

Happy New Year.
I really love this ''ugly'' seaplane and have made it 3 times in my modeling life. The first one at the beginning of the 70's and recently two more times, all from the in and 1/48. Here you see 1/72 which is the ancient kit that was first released in the 60's. It is a simple kit, like all of its time, but can with love and care stand with dignity next to modern kits.

  1. Oldie but goldie :).
With little extra work you obtained a very good model, kudos!
I also like the color scheme, which enhances the particular shapes of this kind of aircraft.

  2. Giannis, thats a work of art, and I like that you placed it next to the 48th scale version as well. Excellent modeling skills in bringing a base kit up to standard,. Love it!

  3. Detailing gone wild! Absolutely incredible. Your detailing is creative and resourceful and you have the hand of a true craftsman. Excellent photos too. Thanks for sharing this build.

  17. Hard to believe that's the old 1/72 Airfix kit, looks amazing. I like how you replicated much of the 1/48 kit interior on the 72nd model. Great job!

  18. great work, i love sea planes too

  19. Real men model...some great scratch building and rigging on this 1/72nd kit. Definitely, some strong work worthy of being a candidate for model of the month.
