Tamiya 1/6 Harley Davidson FLSTFB Fat Boy Lo

January 1, 2020 · in Automotive · · 15 · 2.5K

Happy New Year to all.

Here is something that flies but on the ground instead of in the air. This kit was absolute fun to build. Typical superb quality let down only by the sub standard brake rotors and exhaust mufflers which were replaced by Tamiya aftermarket items of excellent quality. The mufflers are turned metal and the rotors either etched or laser cut metal. I took the easy way out for painting and used various Tamiya rattle can blacks and was really happy with the result. I highly recommend this kit as a satisfying and fun build.

  1. Taking photos of your HD bike and claiming it to be a model isn’t a fair deal πŸ™‚ it’s that realistic!

  2. Great job, must be a huge thing in 1/6. Sth a parrot can drive for real πŸ˜‰

  3. Great looking bike! One thing that stands out to me is the look of the seat and tank protector texture.. they both look spot on like they should. What kind of paints did you use for those? If you told me it was actually soft material, I wouldn't be surprised..

    • I would like to say that I did a home made mix of paints but the truth is that those parts are unpainted. Tamiya did a brilliant job of these soft rubbery parts.

  4. Very nice job! Here is a photo of my 1/1 Fat Boy Lo...

  5. Looks like it would run. Beautiful work.

  6. It bring back some good memories for me and it looks really good. So good that you could expect to fire it up and go for a ride good. I also owned a Fatboy. Mine was a Firefighter Special edition. Right after 911, Harley Davidson made these bikes for first responders. I was lucky enough to get one.

A few years ago I had to sell it.

  7. Super Nice! I need to build one of these! I own a Street Glide but decent models of Harleys are pretty much non-existent, so its about time I get to buying one and building! Thanx for sharing!

  8. πŸ™‚ … Greetings … πŸ™‚ :
Nice clean and sharp work Haslam, very realistic looking, right down to the black tone of the seat … very nice work.
