A p-51d reno, nevada racer
I created this o.o.b. hypothetical Reno, Nevada racer ’cause I has several good quality race-related decals in my spare decal box.

I remember your article in Fine Scale Modeler (a tiger striped P-51 racer if memory serves) about high gloss finishes. Did you employ that technique on this?

Hi Jim:
It was called Zebra striped by Ed Weiner who owned the real P-51D way back then as it was built in 1988 and I entered it in the 1989 IPMS/USA San Diego, California National convention. The model was sold in 1990.
The gloss finish on the 1/48 scale “pink – hypo” P- 51 races was……”I forgot” most everything. However I recall that it was painted with my left over Tamiya gloss pink paint. I assume I applied Future Floor Wax on top of the plane after the decals were put on. Future makes an excellent gloss coat for your model. RJW!
