Focke Wulf FW-200B in QANTAS Service

February 22, 2020 · in Aviation · · 8 · 1.8K

To start, the FW-200B never saw service with . I started this kit a few years ago and it stalled due to paint matching problems for another scheme. A month ago I took it down from the shelf of doom and its holding pattern and stripped it of paint to give it a new lease of life. After getting to the point of decalling I could not decide on a scheme until I was trawling through my decal stash and found a Hawkeye Models Australia sheet for a early Lockheed L749. As I was in the process of starting a Consolidated LB-30 conversion (also to be in QANTAS colours) I decided to see if the Connie decals would fit the , the rest is history as they say!

  1. Good job turning a lemon into lemonade.

  2. Nice. Probably my favourite airplane and often forgotten as one of the worlds first modern airliners.

  3. Neat build. It's always fun to have a build that doesn't have the constraints of having to follow the hard and fast rule of accuracy and one can be creative in showing what might have been.
    Two thumbs up.

  4. Looks great in the Qantas scheme!

  5. It should have flown for QUANTAS! Nice save,

  6. Why not?! Ended up looking good.

  7. Thanks gents, I was not sure the original kit decals were usable and was not really keen on the options, so into the decal stash and this one popped out.

  8. Nice. I can imagine this flying above the desert near Winton QLD.
