1/25th Scale 1960 Ford Starliner

March 24, 2020 · in Automotive · 1 · 1.1K

On January 9, 2020 I posted my first 1960 Ford Starliner car. I somehow forgot to post my second one which is like a "half" Starliner car.

My 1950 high school buddy Ed lives in Scottsdale, Arizona/U.S.A. and on my 2014 visit he ask me to build him a plastic 1960 Ford Starliner car as he has a restored one. He said that when he bought the two plastic model kits at the hobby shop, the sales person said: "Ed, all you have to do is change the 2 car tops...that's it man!"

With several visits with Ed, me and my wife stay at his home "FREE." I could not say no to building it for him free-of-charge.

Like the sales person said, "All I did was cut loose both tops and change them." Ed loves his model and he takes it with him when he goes to the annual "GOODGUYS" car show that is held every year in his hometown.

Like any model that you build, it take some more time when you cut it up and use part of it on another model. The other kits car top did not fit on the model very good, so I just built it without making a new top. including no trunk lid. It's a very unusual looking model and I showed it off at the 2016 IPMS/USA Grand Junction, Colorado annual contest. I have enclosed a photo of it with Ed's model to show comparison!

I like the car very much even tho it is missing the rear section of a normal car.

  1. Fantastic job Rodney! You will inspire an aeroplaneholic guy to build cars too.
    All the best!
