Hay all,

here you see my first attempt on a diorama.
Also my first 4 engine plane, foto etch, resin model, new tecnics, ...
The idee about this diorama came from a fellow modeller from the club we are in when i was building the plane.
So by this way i would thank him, so Dirk thank you allot for all your help, advice, idees and patient 🙂 your the best.
On the diorama you will find:
Douglas C-54 Skymaster,
Autocar U7144T 4x4 + F-1 avaition gasoline trailer, and articdecals
Diamond T968 cargo truck + load, IBGmodels and blackdog
Coleman MB-4, videoaviation.com
Crew, cmk
Stepladder, DANmodels
Toolbox: brengun
And some scratch build parts
Paints i used are from Revell, mig, xtracolor, humbroll, AK, lifecolor and tamiya

This plane used to help move cargo from Rhein-main are base to Tempelhof airplane to the britisch zone and back to home base. So heres the plae unloading and getting ready again to take off. Thats the idee about this diorama.

I hope you all like it and always open to the positive and negative advice will help me to get better 🙂

Thanks for watching and best regards

John

  1. Net echt! Goed gedaan, John! Keep 'em coming!

  2. Hi John,

Fantastic finish on this quite complicated (big and intricate paint and decal scheme) diorama build. Besides the airplane it shows clearly, how important airport (military base) equipment is when you start with dioramas.

I have seen John working on this project, from the start at our HQ from Model Club Eeklo Belgium. Endless hours were put into this magnificent diorama. It is displayed with a book "The Berlin Airlift" from John Grehan. In honor to the world's largest ever air supply operation.

John, on to the next one. (HC-130 USCG) Also colorful and BIG.

    Regards,

    Dirk

  3. This is a great build and diorama! A fitting tribute to that operation.

  4. Very cool! Nice job

  5. just awesome

  6. Nice work! Great success on a number of "firsts."

For anyone interested in a good history of the Berlin Airlift, which was far more important than just for saving Berlin, the (newly) late Richard Reeves' book "Daring Young Men" is excellent. It turns out the Berlin Airlift resolved the post-war difficulties of the Occupation and turned Americans and West Germans into allies, created 24/7 all-weather aviation, and the system now used for tracking packages around the world. Plus the book has some great period cartoons that really give a sense of the zeitgeist. Highly recommended.

  7. Great job John! A lot of quality work was put into it.
    All the best!

  8. Lovely C 54 and diorama John, well done.

  9. Really nice! Well done.
