Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike project: Bandai 1/12

March 25, 2020 · in Diorama · · 16 · 2.5K

Well, it's been a minute since I've posted. So I thought why not show what I've been working on. Bandai 1/12 Scout Trooper and Speeder bike with scratch-built fountain (it works!). Still have quite a bit to do but at least we can now see the finish line on this project. Any questions feel free to ask and as always thanks for looking!

  1. Looks real, Travis. You put a lot of effort there. Fantastic job!
I admire yor work (though I'm not into figures and dioramas). I'm also a big fan of Yoda.
    All the best!

  2. Not my area of modelling interest but can’t help admire the quality of this Star Wars diorama you present here. I do wonder how did you achieve the falling water effect? Thumbs up!

    • Thank you sir, appreciate it! That’s real water, it’s a functional table top style water fountain. (Scratch built). This platform won’t let me upload videos so you can’t see it in action

  3. A terrific build! Very imaginative.

  4. Great representation of nature + weathering of the models! Very much liked!

  5. The Bandai Star Wars kits are awesome, although I don't have the speeder bike yet. The old MPC version was (and still is) quite good. (Their best SW kit IMHO.) Can't wait to try the Bandai though. (Any idea how do they scale up to one another? I've seen the MPC listed as 1:11.)

The base you've set these on is stunning. Looks like a combo of Woodland Scenics and real wood, moss and vegetation. Cracking job Travis!

  6. Thank you sir appreciate it! The Bandai kit comes with both Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike and is listed as 1:12 scale. You are correct some woodland scenic foliage was used along with some real vegetation and sticks. Most of the foliage is from a place called Dioramapresepe.com out of Italy they have great stuff but unsure what their status is with all that is going on with this COVID-19 mess. The mud is a combo of VMS Smart Mud and Ammo by Mig Mud Splashes line

  7. Super sweet dio. Excellent craftsmanship.

  8. Excellent work. I’m currently working on this same kit myself however I’m a rookie to dioramas.

Could you please tell me what different foliage you used? It would be a big help.

    Thanks

    • Thank you sir, much appreciated! Go here: https://www.dioramapresepe.com/en/ for all your foliage needs. The site can be a little overwhelming with all the selections just make sure you research first then it should be easier to pick out exactly what you want. On this project, I also stumbled upon Woodland Scenics Fine Leaf Foliage. It's supposed to be for smaller-scale trees but they make the perfect bushes for the Bandai Star Wars 1/12 scale as they even have the little branches in them, a little pricey but worth it! Thanks again and I hope this helps!

  9. Amazing work man, looks so realistic, great weathering.
