Airfix 1:48 Spitfire Mk.XIV

April 1, 2020 · in Aviation · · 14 · 3.8K

Here is my newly completed Mk.XIV . With the new kit coming out, I decided to re-do the John Wilkinson Spitfire I built a few years back when John was still alive. This is the model I always wanted to build but the 1:72 Sword kit was the best we could do at the time. Quite a few changes are needed to convert back from the kits FR.14 standard. Its a great kit, builds up with no issues, slight gap at the port wing root but that was easily dealt with. This one will be in Model Aircraft Magazine soon. Hope you enjoy the photos!

  1. Great work, Alan. What changes are necessary to build the F.XIV other then deleting the camera compartment?

  4. Alan, Beautiful !. In my opinion the bubble top Spitfires are the best looking Spitfires. I really enjoy seeing one built well, like what you've done here. Well done !
