Imperial Japanese NavyYokosuka MXY7 Ohka

April 2, 2020 · in Aviation · · 12 · 1.7K

A recently done this tiny funny build from with the self-challenge to build it as fast as possible. Done it in about 5 days. Very fine details and good quality parts. I also got a PE set for small details as the pitot tube and the bomb spin in the front.
In the background of some pics, you can see a Mitsubishi G4M Betty which was used to launch this flying bomb.

  1. Excellent model, Alex. and an unusual subject too.
    All the best!

    • Right! I found this model during my last trip in Japan and then learned more about it; actually wasn’t so cool for the pilots :-/

  2. Very nice build, lots of interesting things to look at packed into a very small package. Excellent finish and nice touches even down to the marking on the cradle. Sometimes simple builds and be so much fun.

    • Yeah! I like to make small project between bigger one in order to change rhythm, plus it helps to add a tiny challenge to improve on a topic.
      Thanks for your comment

  3. looks great - and nice that you put the Betty next to it for some perspective. great work!

    • Thanks for your comment 🙂
Yes, right it creates a clear contrast about size and also usage of those aircrafts. The bomber was painted with a low quality paint due to restrictions and the Ohka, by definition, was unfortunately used only for one mission.

  4. Love the Ohka, but tell me more about the paint chipping on that Betty!

    • Hehhehe! Good point 😉
If you are kind and stay safe at home, I will post it tomorrow with some technical details.
      Cheers

  5. Alex, This is really nice. I can't imagine the thrill ride this thing would have been, and the bummer of not being able to share the experience with anybody. Anyway, a very nice build, and very interesting model. Well done !
