Tamiya F4-J
I built this back in 2011 and represents
' Shamrock 202' flown by 'Lil John' Cummings and 'Bear' Lasseter on their mission on 11 September 1972 whereby they become the first and only (I think) all Marine crew to down a MIG during the Vietnam war and in this case a 21.
The jet displays 2 MIG kills on the splitter plate bit one was removed as they were credited with only the one kill. There is quite a story attached to this mission but that's for another day.
That's a great model, Mark! Excellent details. The engine exhast cones look absolutely real. Nice subtle weathering too.

That is a beautiful Phantom! I love those Shamrock markings also - I was wondering what scheme to put my Marine Phantom in, and I think I've found it (now - if I can just find similar decals for my 1/72 build...). Great weathering and paint work.

Lovely job, one of my favourite aircraft, I have a 1/72 scale Revell kit to make, I haven't built a 1/72 size kit for 40 years and only just started building 1/48 kits in the last two years

Great job, Mark. I have the decals for this one and almost finished my Tamiya F-4J in this scheme. You have really done a fine job on the weathering. I can see you did a lot of good work in the cockpit too. The load out must have been challenging to hang with so much overlapping ordinance. How did you do the intakes? That was the biggest task for me.

If I remember correctly I used Mulliput to smooth out the intake trunking. I did a lot of that before attaching to the fuselage.
It worked very well and resulted in a smooth transition to the fan.
Now that's just pretty! A bit of grime to let you know she's been working too. Sweet work!
