1/48 Tamiya JS-2 Finished

May 14, 2020 · in Armor · · 6 · 2K

Finished the JS-2 (started October 2019) and sat stagnant for a few months as it was missng a sprue ( which was re-ordered and arrived March 2020) - 100% OOB nothing added.
A great kit and I painted it in conjunction with the T-55 as paints pretty much the same.
I posed them together to show the relative size between the two and the JS2 was not that big a tank (weight 43t), compared to Tiger II (63t approx). Plan to build another that I will bash up a bit more and do a Berlin scheme with white ID markings etc.

Happy Modeling!

  1. WOW, that is a beautiful beast (or rather they both are) Well done! Would you consider sharing the build - no pressure - over in groups in the appropriate "Work-in-progress.." group? - I would really like some 1/48 builds to follow as I am trying to get started on some vehicles for my planes.

    Thank you for sharing!

  2. Very nice! These Russian tanks looked like beasts, I find. You really captured it well. And yes, welcome to the Armor WIP group here. Always interesting to follow-up on projects as they develop. I quite appreciate the feedback you get there!

  3. Looks nice. Thanks for the inspiration, I have one of these kits about half done on the SOD.

  4. Nicely done ,both look great!

  5. Great job, Darren. I love this beast.
