1/72 Swiss Bf-109G-6

May 18, 2020 · in Aviation · · 18 · 3.1K

The history of the Bf-109 is well documented and so I'm not going it into it today 🙂
About a week ago, in the midle of some long-time buildings, I felt like a fast build.
Browsing through my stash, I found an old, simple (maybe too much) ref A02029A, skill level 1, with some nice Cartograph decals and immediately I remembered a Swiss friend who, I'm sure, would like to receive this build.

Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6.
J-704 Swiss airforce. ("RQ+BI", (W.Nr. 163245) of 7. Fligerkompanie.
Delivered to Switzerland 20 May 1944).

THE KIT & BUILD NOTES:
And so I started. Everything that could go wrong in such a simple building has gone, with some odd reactions between Vallejo paint and all the rest. At the end I return to my old trusty Mr. Hobby.
As I wanted a plain simple build, it was completely OOB, except for the pitot (that wasn't even included in the kit but that I couldn't ignore) and the antenna wire.
At the end I must say that if one doesn't want much detail and all of that but just to remember childhood, this maybe give some enjoyable couple of hours.

In the end the result is in sight: a simple and modest construction, but one that gave me some immediate pleasure to break with the other longer ones (meanwhile I finished one of them: an A380 that you can see in my previous post).

Hope you enjoy. Cheers!
Manuel

  1. Superb work Manuel. Swiss schemes on 109's are some of the most attractive to me.

  2. I'm with Dale - love the Swiss scheme, and a beautiful build - in my scale to boot!

  6. Beautiful build, especially since it is 1/72.
So much detail in such a small model.

  7. Another great build and the Swiss livery is very eyecatching on a 109!
