And another one finished.
Started with ´s "E" kit but then stole the engine from one of their Ju88 kits and built an "A". Eduard seatbelts added, EZ Line for the antenna wires and brake lines, AIMS decals for the main markings, Gunze RLM70/71 for the replacement wing and old selfmixed RLM76 with Tamiya XF-23 Gunze H314 and H2 and a not known anymore light grey.

  1. Sharp build, masterfully made! Was considering this scheme to finish mine, one of my current shelf queens, because the my initial choice of scheme was cast aside after finding that I had glued a panel specific for the torpedo version. Good thing my decal stash has one from KG26 that fit the shoe. Hope mine turns half as nice as yours

  2. Beautifully done! Great looking scheme.

  3. What a fantastic build.
Never saw this scheme before but it looks great.

    • Thanks John! Yes, the scheme stands out a bit, therefore we chose it. The usual 188 look rather standard with their 70/71 or black/76 livery, a mix of both looks more attractive 🙂

  4. That's a fantastic build, Reinhard! What a fantastic scheme, and what a meticulous masking!
    All the best!

  5. Very nice, that canopy gives me anxiety just thinking about masking it! Wicked paint scheme dude.

  6. Very cool. The glasswork is amazing!
    Well done !

  7. A wonderful and impressive build! I really enjoy these pictures!

  8. Just finished one of these myself (Ju-188E), hopefully to display soon.

You've done excellent work on a kit that's not the easiest and gotten a superb result.

  9. Beautiful! I have built one-the kit has issues and was not an easy build. What part tested you most?

    • Thanks Bryan! All the old Dragon kits need some more work and attention. The fit was ok, in some areas like the engine nacelle to wing joint, at least with our kit, some more filler was necessary. Otherwise no problems.

The most challenging part was the cockpit/canopy area. Maybe you´ve looked into the WIP thread. If not, the fuselage halves had some tension. At the height of the cockpit the upper parts of the fuselage were slightly bent inwards. Therefore the upper and front canopy parts overlapped the fuselage. Had to insert a piece of plastic sprue (if you look close at the pics you can see it in the cockpit) to spread the forward fuselage apart. Another challenge were the front and rear MGs. The gun mounts had hardly an attachment point to the ground. And then you have to slip the barrels through the clear parts when adding the two canopy parts without knocking the guns over again. You need to pay attention an have calm hands 😀 And as highlight in the end fixing the PE gunsights onto the front and rear gun..

BTW, for the frontal gunthrough cover (non provided in the kit) my dad used a painted piece of tissue and attached it with Micro Klear.

Besides that my dad had no real problems with the kit.

  10. This is an amazing build. @grimreaper
Like some of the others have mentioned, I also have this kit in the stash. It looks like it could be a little bit tricky to get assembled properly. Is there anything you could pass on to us, as far as building tips ? Thanks for sharing it with us.

  11. Very nice - great scheme and nicely executed.
