The tale of two kits, Revell P-40E and P-40K, 1/72

May 14, 2020 · in Aviation · · 10 · 2.3K

The vintage P-40E dates back to 1964[my example is actually1971], The kit was produced in the mid 1990's. When I looked over the K it looked very similar to the old E kit, It looks like some where along the way some one updated the original molds, replacing the rivets with scribed panel lines but leaving the tell tale 'donut tires' that were prevalent in some of 's original kits. The P-40E is from the 3rd P.S. {Prov.} USAAF, Australia 1942. The K markings are fictitious, resembling one from the CBI theatre. circa 1943.

  1. Neat stuff Robert. I started off building planes in 1/72. Brings back a lot of memories!

  2. Cool. That P-40E is a real survivor!. I always wondered what was in that “K” box. I figured it was a repop of a Czech kit.

  3. Looking good Robert, nice pair of kitties !

  4. Great models, Robert! Absolutely cool! I love building 1/72 vintage (or "old" anyway) models, and equally love seeing others nicely built.
Kudos to your great coolection of P-36s and P-40s too!
    All the best!

  5. Nicely done Robert and nice to see someone else has a collection of P-40's along with a few P-36's. One can never build or collect too many P-40's I've heard.

  6. Very nice, the P-40 is a favorite.

  7. Couple of nice builds - and quite the Hawk collection you have there!

  8. Very nice looks great, I love both kits. I need to post my Smer P-40K, you have seen my P-40E. Also great shot of you Curtiss fighters.

  9. It's all been said Joe. Your Eagle is great & if it's any guide to your future efforts, we're in for a treat. Welcome back & keep up the good work!
