Vintage Revell Sikorsky H-19

This is about the iconic Sikorsky , a multi-propose helicopter used by USA and several other countries. In my project to built or restore some old models that could bring me some memories, I restored the H-19 1/48 scale, which I had built probably before 1982, but my first one was around 1968, as a gift from my brother in law. It is a 1955 original Revell mold, released in Brazil by A. Kikoler in 1962. The kit was complete although with some damages.

The job was basically a good cleaning with water and soap, putty and sanding a lot, primer and new aluminium painting. The floats structure parts were reinforced with wire and I had original decal sheets but due to yellowing I printed new lettering, using only insignias and rescue bands. I put seat belts and panel cables to improve a little.

Summary:
Squadron green putty,
Automotive polyester primer,
Automotive polyester silver paint,
Acrilex clear coat and
Oils for weathering.

Finally another shinning model in my collection, which brings me great memories.

  5. It’s nice seeing these built. Did yours have a molding flaw in the windscreen? My copy and a friend’s both have a flow mark in the same spot. Both were circa 2000 reissues.

That is really cool, I actually love that helicopter, and would be very interested in a new tool version this bird. Your refresh looks GREAT! I love it.
