1/32 Trumpeter P-40F Warhawk “El Tigre”
Yet another one from the pandemic isolation days. This is 1/32 Trumpeter P-40F Warhawk “El Tigre” (41-14245) tactical code “87” from 66th FS / 57th FG Sicily 1943.
The kit’s top curve of the nose is off, it is not as it needs to be, it has a distinct hump. Thanks God the plastic is thick enough to sand it flatter. So I sanded this area a little. The new shape satisfied me.
I have used Eduard instrument panel and CMK seat in the cockpit.
Exhaust : Eduard resin parts for Hasegawa.
Wheels : Hasegawa s P-40 parts.
Paints: Gunze Sangyo acrylics
Decals : Nose art and El Tigre decals are from Custom Hobby Decals Australia.
Happy modelling

That's a beautifully crafted kit - from build to paint work; I appreciate the subtlety. Nicely executed photos too that give the plane real presence.

Great to see something a bit different with that camo. Your work here is superb as usual, though I've got to say with this one, for some reason the canopy framing looks particularly good to me. Maybe it's the way there appears to be shadowy grime along the frames?
Nice work!

Another excellent Tolga ULGUR masterpiece.
I kept looking at those exhausts for quite a while...they are spotless!
As is the rest of the build.

Noice. Very pretty, and see you used the proper exhausts, despite what Trumpeter said...

Looks great, Tolga. I don't count rivets and I don't worry much about profiles that a slightly off. It looks like a P-40, and that's good enough. Awesome paint job.

I guess we need more pandemics to be able to ramp your output! A beautiful Hawk - love the desert-scheme birds. Excellent work as always!

Thanks Greg. Yes it seems that this will not be ended soon. Here the second wave is coming.

Hi Tolga
Great P-40F - shame they didn't do the long tail version first - plenty of interesting schemes including RAAF squadrons.
Did you have any work in progress pics? Interested to see how much you took off the top cowl without getting the prop out of position? Your's looks nicely balanced and great scheme. The CHD decals worked well? I know Geoff so might get him to do some decals for me.
Happy Modelling

Thank you Darren
Yes exactly, I have no idea why they did the short tail but not the long tail.
Unfortunately I have no picture for fixing the nose shape.
Due to my opinion, the shape problem is on the upper center section of the cowling
So operation occured there not on the tip of the nose.
Maybe still not correct completely but the result satisfied me , it looks like an F 🙂
Still Trumpeter makes bizarre mistakes. Like not curved cockpit base and another fuel inlet on the right side. And same mistakes repeated on their new P-40N and E's
Indeed this is very strange.
Yes CHD decals worked well. I have a great communication with Geoff despite the very long distance. He made critical aid in some projects that have been stopped because of lack of decals.

Hello! Great build! How did you match CoralSand color on upper surfaces?
