1/48 SCALE "PACIFIC PRINCESS." Part One:

This model is a "GEM" to build and I did what we call here in America; "A Bang Up Job." I have quite a few top quality "in-progress" building images that I though would make a good two-part story.
Study the photos and they will tell you that this kit has an excellent cockpit, including a fine looking one piece windscreen/canopy. Since I like my airplane canopy's open, I carefully cut the kit's unit apart as I'm good at it...lots of experience from past projects, including verbal help from other professional modelers.
With my #6 six inch long pointed file I carefully cleaned out the gun ports, then I used my 3 cornered #6 file to clean up the torque links as they gotta look real.
It appears that I used 1/2 inch diameter plastic tubing for the exhaust tube. I show my small tube cutting tool that I bought from "Small Parts,Inc,"(ca:1987). I have used that tool to cut all my plastic and metal tubing for landing gears on airplane's.

Looks good Rodney. I have a few of those small tubing cutters in my tool box. I use them for numerous things, like cutting off old brake lines, and also when I make new fuel and brake lines when I work on restoring old cars. I have also used them like you mentioned with plastic and metal tubes for hobby use. They are a nifty little invention and can be used in small tight places on cars.
Back in the late 1970's, through the early 90's, I knew a man named Harry Doan who owned and flew a Vampire similar to the one you are building in this article. He's the same man who also owned F2G "Race 57" (at one time), that we have talked about in the past.
