ITALERI 1/12 ALFA 8c.

July 14, 2020 · in Automotive · · 15 · 2.7K

This is my take on the Alfa 2300

It's a fairly poor kit and reqired quite a bit of work. I've used somewhat massive amount of add ons, all scratch built to fit.

The engine bay is re-wired with various copper and vinyl pieces and a new ignition loom fabricated.

I had to make my own spoked wheels, they're not perfect but the best I could mange with my limited skills.

I pimped up the interior by adding custom fuel lines and fixtures.

I then made a real leather seat to fit.

All the panel pins, latches and retainers were scratch built.

I also decided to make a working piano hinge for the bonnet.

Painted in Mr Color lacquers with many layers of gloss.

I decided to do it in "Museum condition" rather than "period" just because I liked the look.

Steve, I remember you telling me at I think the last IPMS meeting before the Corona virus put an end to meetings that you were were working on something very different. Wow! Steve, you have really excelled yourself! Magnificent job mate. It is awesome! Hope to see your Alfa in the flesh sometime soon when we are able to meet again at IPMS.

  7. Excellent job! My favorite race cars are the pre-war grand prix cars. Really nice job on this one.

  8. Excellent work on a difficult kit, it’s a shame about some of these Italeri kits, great choice of prototypes poorly executed.

  9. Very cool. Nice job!

  10. Wow, you have set the mark high, I am getting ready to build this very kit...now you have me scared lol.

  11. Absolutely beautiful, Steve! It looks ready to drive out of the showroom.

  12. Very very nice! I have built the Pocher kit and was considering buying this one.
Reading the latest Airfix magazine article made it sound like the cat's meow, but somehow the pics in the article did not inspire me to buy this kit. Very nice adaptation and demonstration of what can be done; maybe I'll reconsider and put in the effort it takes. Thank you for sharing.

  13. Thank you all for you generous comments. It was a difficult build that almost decorated the bin more than once and was lucky to survive my frustrations.
Nonetheless it didn't turn out too bad in the end.

  14. 🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :
