MODEL SNOW

July 16, 2020 · in Aviation · 11 · 1.7K

My last segment was written about using "Bacon Soda" for my snow and became a great learning experience.

IT'S LIKE:
"Would you put water in your car's gas tank to see if the engine would still operate?

I"m re-sending some photo's along with some additional ones so you know the whole story. I even wrote on one of the photo's what I used.

You will note that the new paint looks a different color and you may think I'm using a different color..."NOT TRUE".
After the paint is clear coated with "Future Floor Wax;" (F.F.W.) it changes the color. The F.F.W. name was changed several years ago to "PLEDGE" any my PhD Chemical Engineer modeling friend said that PLEDGE and F.F.W. are the same thing and only the name was changed. Now you don't need to ask any more question's...well! maybe one. Like I said before @ 89 years old my memory bank is shutting down and with the model being built ten years ago I really don't remember very much these day's.

Remember::: You only use "BACON SODA" WITH OTHER FOOD'S IN YOUR KITCHEN...JUST ASK YOUR MOM AND/OR YOUR WIFE.
Enjoy

  1. Nice work, Rodney, we don't see snow dioramas often. Did this scene represent an actual event?

  2. Great diorama, Rodney!

  3. It represent's a photo of where it crashed landed at G.A.C.'s Akron,Ohio's airport that was next to the 4 extremely large buildings that Goodyear Aircraft Corporation's built). I think I posted the crash photo, if not, then I'll go find it and post it.

  4. Here is the crashed photo and one of it when they brought it inside one of the hangers. The crane broke and crashed down on the F2G just in front of the windscreen,( no photo) and GAC scrapped the plane and it went to our local Akron dump, (no photo).

END OF STORY WITH NO MORE COMMENTS BY ME!

    Thank you for posting this.

  6. Beautiful build of that XF2G-1 and its 'snow' base. Here's an additional view of that Super Corsair (14695) before it suffered the crash landing and subsequent damage.

    • Hi Jim: Long time we no email: Anyway's, thanks for the photo. I have it along with the other view. The 2 photo's were taken outside of the small building next to "Plant D." I'll send you an email to your home email.

  7. 🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :
Nice job on the model and finish, always love a snow diorama.

  8. Here's me in the snow, with my new Thompson .45cal machine gun that I bought at the annual NRA Convention in Columbus, Ohio, along with a couple of photo's of the hand-made, (scrarth-built) cockpit, which was built from looking at real photos of the F2G cockpit. I had no measurements. I used the method of "CUT AND FIT, CUT AN FIT UNTIL IT FITS."
