1/48 Aurora Fokker D-VII

August 20, 2020 · in Uncategorized · · 9 · 1.8K

Built this one a while ago. Lozenge decals by America’s Gryphon. Checkerboard hand done on flat white with black India ink. The “Mimi” was drawn on white decal film. I rather like how it turned out.

  1. Nice result.

Here's a solution to the care of dusty models, we all know we don't want to dust them off for fear of knocking something off. But if you take an empty pump action spray bottle and RINSE IT OUT THOROUGHLY, then fill with water, and afterwards put in some liquid dish soap (you don't want bubbles, so do it this way) you can then spray the model, and that soapy solution will loosen the dust. Then take a second bottle that only has water and rinse the model thoroughly. Allow to air dry. Nice "new" model and nothing lost.

  2. Great build, Brian.
    Well done handpainting this checkerboard.

  3. Nicely done! A golden oldie.

  4. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Nice work on that oldie. The checkerboard portion is very well done, nice and good control of a paint brush. The "MIMMI" is a nice touch.

  5. That's a fantastic result out of the venerable Aurora kit, Brian! A fine job indeed.
I loved Tom's @tcinla cleaning technique. I will now be able to remove this stubborn dust from my old models, Navy Blue ones included, among others...

  6. Wow, yeah, I remember those days... 69ç... Today would be $69.00. Granted, better research, moulding, decals, maybe some P-E and perhaps a few resin bits included, but anyone fear the reaper of inflation yet?

  7. LOVE the old Aurora WW1's. Have a stack of them bought over the years, sometimes I just like to take them down and look at the arts and parts. Built that D-V11 as Georing's all-white one, But it crashed. Very nice job on yours.
