1960s Retro-futuristic Moonbase
I found a really cool lunchbox on ebay a few months ago and decided to take it a little further by making a little moonbase diorama inside of it. I had one of these as a kid and was really happy to have found it. The Landers, Rovers, Space Station, and Base Station were designed in Tinkercad- a free online CAD application and exported as .STL files. These were brought into Chitubox for printing on an Anycubic Photo SLA printer. It took a few tries to get everything to print correctly, but I was pretty glad that I had the patience to endure two weeks of print failures. The ground was made using styrofoam, plaster, and acrylic gel medium. It was then painted with Mission Models Rust paints, weathered with Ammo of Mig washes and dusted with Vietnam Earth pigment. The landers, etc were pained with MMPs and Vallejo acrylics to loosely match the colors of the spacecraft on the lunchbox art. The inside lid of the lunchbox was covered with a sparkly craft paper.
Way retro cool! I remember that lunchbox as a kid too. Love to see the reactions at an IPMS gathering. Thanks for sharing George!

Box scale? OOB turned ITB. Cool idea. Is it still possible to close the lid?
I have no idea what the scale is. I just proportioned everything the the box. It is possible to close the lid.

Super Cool! Awe Lunch boxes...I had a Voyage to the Bottom of the Seas when I was a kid. That is till I let it get run over by the school bus. Very creative, and really a great way to display, nice use of primary colors.
