Canopy ridge

August 25, 2020 · in Aviation · 6 · 1.8K

I bought this kit not knowing that the canopy & windscreen was modeled with a seam down the middle.

I had the experience with clear part's like this, so all I did was sand off the ridge using "3M's wet/dry sandpaper. I started with 320, then used 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500 and then with 2000 grit.

The canopy was polished, then I dipped it into an open jar full of Future. A few days later I mask the canopy and painted on the frame lines.

That's it...done!

  1. Thanks for sharing.
    Looks nice.

  2. When did the Golden Hawks perform with the F-15? 🙂

  3. Thank you for the tip. Looks great.
    Metal polishing paste..aha!

    • Hi Peter: The "RCAF" never used a F-15. I just finished my model that way. I have too many model's in their Navy/Army paint jobs.

And a big "Thank You" to the rest of the modeler's comments!
