Land speed record

September 1, 2020 · in Automotive · · 13 · 1.7K

So, this is fusion of xj220 and f-14 canopy with few naca inlets and BMW M1 hood.
The idea behind this are breaking vehicles in 1930s-40s like : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campbell-Railton_Blue_Bird
Livery is lazy pick but appropriate because drivers were mostly British.

  1. I’m an aircraft guy, but I must say that is very cool! It certainly looks the part!

  2. Cool idea and nicely done execution!

  3. I know it is based on a real sports car, but I can't help but imagine Austin Powers pop out of a vehicle like this while yelling "Groovy Baby!"

Definitely looks like it was "fun" masking this really nice paint job.

    • now that you mentioned him, i cant get it out of my head. 😛

yes, the masking was pretty "fun", and "fun" words were used masking all those curves, trying to keep a straight line, and tape peeling off

  4. Very inventive, looks great!

  5. Yeah, "inventive," that's the word I was thinking of. It sounds so much better than "certifiable." 🙂

A very cool result to an off-the-wall idea.

  6. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
This is a very good rendition of letting your creativity flow loosely and it looks great and fun.
    Nice work overall Matija.

  7. Nice idea and perfect execution!

  8. thank you guys, glad you like it

  9. Lazy? Nothing lazy about doing the three color Union Jack on something with compound curves while as you say keeping everything straight! I wonder if the twin turbo V-6 was left unaltered how much faster this would be over a standard XJ220?

    • lazy was the idea, the execution of the idea was pain in the a*s.
with same engine as XJ? maybe dozen Kph more, roof cant be that much of a factor.
maybe mine would have stability issues because cabin is not in the middle, thus slower speed.
i moved cabin on one side so that two aircraft engines can be placed next to it.

  10. Cool build mate!
You’ve done a good job of fusing it all together!

  11. @matija_skobe, I just came across this and wanted to compliment you on a great idea, and a great model too!
