P-47 Razorback Tamiya 1/48 "Jabo"
Tamiya in 1/48 scale (Kit # 61086)
I decided to represent this aircraft from the 509th Fighter Squadron, 405th Fighter Group. This aircraft (P-47D-22-RE) was flown by the 1st Lt. Bob Hartmann. I have always loved this scheme on the razorback and the “Jabo” was one of my favorites from this Fighter Squadron.
This build was straightforward I riveted the model to give another level of detail, the cockpit had great details and each piece fell together without trouble, I wanted to focus on the metal finish for this model, I used Vallejo metallic aluminum paint and painted the different shades with Tamiya smoke.
The Eagle Strike decals I used were fantastic, conformed pretty well to the fuselage, and reacted perfectly with solvaset. For panel lines I used my own mix using brown, black, and gray Tamiya panel liners, for the gunsmoke I used Tamiya smoke and grime pastels.

It's not too difficult, with smoke you can give a lot of different shades, but if you think you overdone the effect, you can always go back with your metallic pint and light up the finish.
Great paint and riveting. Red canopy framing is pretty snazzy.
